FAQs
Why should I book a Happy Smart Homes tech service?
We know our stuff
We are tech experts – we have a wide range of tech in our own homes. Check out the guides we’ve written below and the information we post on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to learn more.
We're with you every step of the way
Whether you're choosing your first smart home device, need help getting everything set up, or want ongoing support, we're here to help at every stage of your smart home journey.
We make technology simple
No jargon. No confusion. Just friendly advice, professional setup and clear guidance to help you enjoy your smart home with confidence.
We're people you can trust
Friendly, reliable and trusted by homeowners across Oxfordshire, we're committed to making smart home technology simple and stress-free.
How much does it cost?
We charge based on the time it takes for our Technologists to complete the work, so that we can pay them a fair rate for their expertise. £89.00 is for a 1 hour service and is our minimum call out, additional 30 minutes are charged at £29.50.
Some services, such as installation and set ups, we can provide an accurate up-front quote based on the tech you're having installed. For example our battery doorbell installation service costs £89.00 as this typically takes 1 hour.
We provide a full list prices on each of our service pages, have a look here:
Who are your Technologists?
Our Technologists are Oxfordshire locals who are good with tech.
They are independent (not employees), and choose to work at hours when they are available, often around other part time or full time jobs.
They love helping people with tech, which is why they've joined Happy Smart Homes to offer their time and expertise!
How do I book?
Just let us know what you need help with. You can do this via the form at the top of our homepage, on any of our dedicated service pages (e.g. Installation & Setup Services), or on our contact us page.
Alternatively you can email us on info@happysmarthomes.com.
Do you sell any tech?
We don't sell any tech, because anyone can buy the tech we help customers with from retailers like Currys, John Lewis or Amazon, so you can pick your preferred retailer or get the best price!

What internet do I need?
- Most smart tech (like doorbells and cameras) needs enough WiFi signal and speed to work properly, the vast majority of UK homes have fast enough WiFi, but please check if you’re unsure
- We've written a simple guide to help you with this, including how to easily check your WiFi speed - check it out here
- We know this can sound a little confusing, so if you’re not sure please contact us and we will be happy to help.
What happens if something stops working?
We know tech doesn't always work perfectly, and we're here to help - please let us know as soon as possible. We'll try to help remotely if we can, or can come back to your home if required.
If it's something that our Technologist didn't get right, then we'll come back and fix it free of charge.
If something else has changed that wasn't the fault of our Technologist, then we may need to charge for our time.
You can read more info on our Make It Right policy here.
How safe is my data?
Smart home tech often needs a basic level of data to work properly and provide you with the amazing benefits it can bring, and this varies by device and the company that make it. The vast majority of companies (including Google, Ring and Eufy) only collect anonymous data, and through the apps used to control everything we can help you decide how much personalisation you would like.
We can also show you how to delete any voice or video recordings from your devices, and tweak the settings so that you’re comfortable.
If you’re worried about video footage being stored on the cloud, we recommend the cameras, doorbells and alarm system by Eufy, as all video stays on a secure hub in your home.
Can I get hacked?
With the right set up and controls in place, your tech is incredibly difficult to hack. The scare-stories that sometimes appear in the news are very much that – exaggerated to make an interesting story.
We will set your tech up to be as secure as possible, and talk you through in simple steps how to stay safe and secure.
Something as quick and simple (for us, and we can show you!) as changing the default admin password on your WiFi router, can make a massive difference, and there are other steps we will take to maximise your home security.
If you’re unsure or would like to learn more, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help.
